During the summer season car ferries leave from Piombino to Portoferraio - main Elba Island town - almost hourly. There are also daily ferries to Cavo and Rio Marina. The shipping companies are Toremar, Blu Navy and Moby Lines. The crossing from Piombino to Portoferraio takes one hour.
A hydrofoil service (no cars), which arrives only in Portoferraio and Cavo, takes 35 minutes.
